Senior Congress leader Mani Kumar Subba passes away at a private hospital in New Delhi

Tezpur: Veteran Congress leader and three times former MP from Tezpur constituency, Mani Kumar Subba passed away at the age of 61 in the wee hours of Monday. Subba breathed his last at a private hospital in New Delhi. He was also the president of the All Assam Gorkha Sanmilan and All Assam OBC Association.

Subba had been paralyzed after suffering a stroke long time back and was undergoing treatment in New Delhi. The former MP was suffering from heart ailments since 2014. Subba represented the prestigious Tezpur parliamentary constituency from 1998 to 2009 in the 12th Lok Sabha, 13th Lok Sabha and 14th Lok Sabha. He was also a legislator of Naoboisa assembly constituency that falls under Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituency. The former MP was born on March 16 in the year 1958 in Darjeeling, West Bengal. Subba is survived his wife, a son and three daughters, besides a host of relatives.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Sonowal condoled the demise of former MP from Tezpur Lok Sabha constituency Moni Kumar Subba. In a statement, the Chief Minister said, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of former Lok Sabha MP Moni Kumar Subba. Late Subba was a soft-spoken person, who worked with a commitment for the welfare of the people. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and well-wishers in this time of grief”. Senior Congress leaders and party workers of Tezpur prayed for the departed soul.
