Senior leader Bhubaneswar Kalita resigns from the Congress, Says no decision on future yet

Guwahati: Senior Congress leader Bhubaneswar Kalita, after his resignation from the Rajya Sabha, has now announced his resignation from Indian National Congress. This latest decision by the veteran leader has come as a major stroke to the political party which has been sinking in the pond of defeat, losses and remorse with one after another noted members bidding farewell to its.

Kalita, on being contacted to know his future plans after the latest resignation, told the media that no decision has been taken so far on whether to remain an active politician or not. Rather, while addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Kalita expressed his displeasure over the functioning of the congress party. The veteran leader also said that he was not contacted by any Congress party member or leader on his resignation proposal which again is disappointing.

Bhubaneswar Kalita stated that some of the Congress leaders have taken to term him as an opportunist on his decision of resigning from the RS. This has disheartened and disappointed him enough to take the final call of quitting the political party. He added that he no more bears any significance in the party and rather people have taken to disrespect him.

The political leader added, “My conscience do not allow me to be a part of such negative developments and still continue in the Congress party.”

It has to be added here that former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi, in a press meet on Tuesday, had said that the reason of opposing Article 370 and resigning from the Rajya Sabha is just an excuse and if such a person leaves the party, the party will not be affected and rather that person will be in loss.

Notably, on Monday, MP Bhubaneswar Kalita had announced to resign from the Rajya Sabha. This decision by the Congress MP had come amidst the controversial and much unruly situation created in the parliament due to the sudden announcement of revocation of Article 370 made by Home Minister Amit Shah in the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
