NAHARKATIA: The Journalist fraternity along with the student, youth and social organization bodies of Duliajan expressed heartiest grief on the sudden demise of the renown journalist of Assam, Pradip Kumar Gogoi.

On the mournful occasion of demise of Pradip Kumar Gogoi who once went on an adventurous journey to the danger and secret terrains of Myanmar and succeeded to meet the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) Commander in Chief Paresh Baruah. On October 31, two journalists' bodies of DuliajanSanmilitaSangbadik Mancha and Duliajan Press Club in association with several other social and student organizations paid tribute to Gogoi at Duliajan Old Bus Stand.

The programme was started with the lamp burning ceremony in front of the late journalist's photo by former vice president of Axam Xahitya Xabha Bhupen Saikia.

Participating at the obituary event, professor of Assamese Department of Dibrugarh University Dr. SatyakamBarthakur opined that Pradip Kumar Gogoi was a man who uncompromisingly stood for the interest of Assam and Assamese people through his journalistic voices. Remembering the works and contribution of Pradip Kumar Gogoi, TridivHazarika, a reknowedcoloumnist of the Assam Tribune and Deputy General Manager of Public Affairs Department of Oil India Limited (OIL) stated that Pradip Kumar Gogoi always stood for the positive growth and success of OIL.

The United Liberation Front of Assam (independent) on Sunday expressed their grief on sudden demise of the journalist. ULFA in their obituary press release sent to the media by Captain Deep Asom stated that with the demise of Pradip Kumar Gogoi Assam has lost a subjective journalist.
