Sensitization programme on tuberculosis held in Sonitpur district

TEZPUR: On the eve of Nikshya Divas, a sensitization programme was organized at the Health and Wellness Centre at Tengabasti, Panchmile NPHC under Tezpur TB unit in Sonitpur District.

The programme was chaired by Dr Sanjoy Roy, District Tuberculosis officer, Sonitpur, and saw the participation of Javed Bhunya, CHO, Tengabasti sub-centre, Abhijeet Lahakar, STS Tezpur TB Unit, District PPM Coordinator, Sonitpur. Dr Roy inaugurated the programme. The message to the community members was loud and clear - to end TB by 2025, a dream of the Prime Minister.

Attending the programme, Joydeep Roy, PPM Coordinator, elaborately discussed about signs and symptoms and treatment procedure and also spoke about TB champions. The CHO created awareness about maintaining cough etiquette and importance of hand hygiene and well ventilated room. The DTO in his presidential address told the masses about Nikshya Poshan Yojna (nutritional benefits for TB patients) with special emphasis on submitting bank accounts details to get the benefits.
