LAKHIMPUR: "The Tribal communities of Assam, who are the sons of the soil of this region, cannot achieve their constitutional rights until and unless they initiate movement. Both governments have a lot of works to do for the all-round progress and development of the Tribal communities of the State," said Mihiniswar Basumatary, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Bodo Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) in Jonai. He said so while delivering his lecture as the chief guest in the open session of 4th biennial conference of Dhemaji district units of United Bodo People's Organization (UBPO), 16th biennial conference of Dhemaji district unit of All Bodo Women Welfare Federation (ABWWF) and 3rd biennial conference of Sanja Sanjari Nwgwr regional unit of UBPO.

The open session of the event commenced with Ratiram Basumatary, Dhemaji district unit UBPO president, in the chair under the management of the general secretary Dipankar Narzary. The programme was inaugurated by Romeo Narzary, the Deputy CEM of BKWAC. The chief guest further asserted, "A community cannot be strong if the society enriched with work culture, academic environment is not built." He appealed to the UBPO to pay its attention to form a developed Bodo community.

In the programme UBPO State president Manoranjan Basumatary was present as an appointed speaker. He said, "The State Government has constituted a separate Language Directorate for the development of Bodo and other tribal languages as a result of long movement. But it has no adequate infrastructures. It is nothing but a big zero till now."

Another appointed speaker, Dipali Narzary, the president of ABWWF, said that ABWWF had extended its cooperation to other Bodo community organizations for the development of the community concerned. She appealed to the women community to come forward with an attitude of reformation to ensure speedy development of the community. Takam Mising Mimag Kebang president Usharani Kumbang delivered her lecture as a special guest in the programme wherein BKWAC chairperson Gambaru Mussahari, EM Pranab Bodo, MAC EM Molendra Narzary, TMPK president Rajkumar Morang, writer-journalist Ranjit Kakati, Nagarik Surakshya Mancha general secretary Tolan Sonowal, senior journalist Aswini Duworah were present as guests of honour. On other hand, a host of dignitaries from almost all Bodo community organizations were present as invited guests.
