DHUBRI: Two sessions on research works on Assamese culture and literature were held in Bholanath College under the auspices of the Assamese Postgraduation Department in the college recently.

The first session was held on ‘Practices of Assamese Culture’. Around 25 postgraduate researchers read their research papers on the eight different Assamese cultural and traditional practices and submitted them in the session.

Changes in cultural and traditional practices and challenges coming in the way to preserve and maintain them were thoroughly discussed. Coordinating the session, Dr. Upendrajeet Sarma hoped that this well-documented research-based discussion would definitely arouse interest and their effort would also save the Assamese cultural and traditional practices for centuries to come.

In this session, Dr Dwipendra Kumar Adhikari, Dr, Dwijendra Nath Bhakat and Dr Upendrajeet Sarma were resource persons and they opined that interest among the new generation would help bringing a fruitful result as far as preserving and protecting the Assamese culture and tradition were concerned.

The second session was held on ‘Novel Literature in Assamese’ conducted by Professor Baby Bora, Dr. Karuna Kanta Das, Dr. Aloka Sarma and Dr. Upendrajeet Sarma as resource persons. Altogether, nine researchers read out their papers on 20 different sub-topics.
