HAFLONG: The first group of seven persons who had tested COVID-19 positive last month were discharged from Haflong Civil Hospital amid a rousing send-off at the hospital premises on Thursday. These seven people who recovered after treatment were discharged after testing negative twice. They were felicitated with gamosa and eatables in a small ceremony organized by the hospital authorities. Among those present during the ceremony were Executive Member (EM), NCHAC, Nandita Gorlosa representing Chief Executive Member, EM Medical in-charge Samuel Changsan, Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Paul Barua, Joint Director of Health Services Dr Dipali Barman, Superintendent of Haflong Civil Hospital Dr. Kalpana Kemprai, Nodal officer for COVID from medical, Dr. Luhamdao Bathari and Hospital administrator Nayan Goswami.

The persons discharged were taken to their homes by vehicles provided by the district administration. They will now have to go through 14 days mandatory home quarantine and will be under supervision of the surveillance team during these days and then a follow-up after the completion of the quarantine period.

Meanwhile, the District Covid-19 Discharge Committee also released the 10 high risk persons who were earlier in contact with these seven persons after their samples tested negative. Also 48 persons from various institutional quarantine facilities in the district were also released on Thursday as per the decision of the board after they were all tested negative for COVID-19. These 48 persons have been directed for home quarantine or community quarantine to complete their remaining days of the mandatory 14 days quarantine period as per guidelines. They have been released but their swab will be collected on the 7th day of their home or community quarantine, counting the release day as day 1.

These are 17 persons from quarantine centre at Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalaya, 5 from Hotel Joyeswari, 13 from Mahur Higher Secondary School, 3 from Haflong Government College Girls' Hostel, 3 from Elite Hotel and 7 from Siksha Bhavan.
