BONGAIGAON/KOKRAJHAR: Seven fresh COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Chirang district on Monday, taking the tally to 87. Chirang district health authorities disclosed that Yamin Ali (25), Shamina Khatun (18), Azizur Ali (13) and Monirul Ali (2) from the same family of Shilikhaguri village under Bijni Revenue Circle had come from New Delhi and were in the institutional quarantine centre at Bijni Ambedkar Bhavan.

Rajen Basumatary (33) from Najaipara village and Upendra Basumatary (28) from Durabari village under Bijni Revenue Circle also had travel history and were in quarantine centre. But Sohit Mushahary (11) from Kajalgaon tested positive for COVID-19 in secondary contact.

Till Monday evening, 71 persons were discharged from hospitals after recovering from COVID-19. The number of active cases in the district is 16.
