Seven Karbi migrant workers rescued in Bengaluru

HOWRAGHAT: As many as seven Karbi migrant workers were rescued here on Thursday by the Bengaluru Karbi Society (BKS) in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The migrant workers have been identified as Longkumar Engti, Anil Terang, Monkiri Kro, Jibon Bey, Waisong Terang, Dhonsing Kramsa and Longbamon Kro. They are all from Karbi Anglong.

The seven migrant workers were working in a plywood company for several years. But when they decided to return to their hometown, the contractor of the company refused to let them leave, subsequently locking them in a room.

Longkumar Engti, one of the workers, was also locked inside the room. He nevertheless managed to call the Bengaluru Karbi Society (BKS) and sought help from the society, Jumson Enghi, publicity in-charge of BSK said. Soon after the report was received, the members of the Bengaluru Karbi Society, without any delay, rushed to the place and rescued all the seven migrant workers.
