RANGIA: Seven persons tested COVID-19 positive and one died during the last 12 hours in Kamrup district. According to newly-appointed Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup district, Kailash Karthik N, Amullya Kalita (54) of village Dimu No. 1 Na Satra under Rangia subdivision in Kamrup district tested positive after his death. Kalita, who was a farmer, was admitted in GMCH for stomach ache on May 15 and he died the same day. After his death, he tested positive.

State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma along with minister Bhabesh Kalita and DC Kailash Karthik N visited the house of Amullya Kalita on Tuesday. The district administration declared containment zone in and around 500 metres area of Kalita's residence. All the family members of Amullya Kalita, including the driver Nitu Deka, were placed under quarantine. The driver may be shifted to Singimari Model Hospital quarantine centre.

Chandan Deka of Baihata Chariali, Pranab Kalita, Dharani Kalita, Utpal Kalita, Ajay Kalita and Nabajeet Kalita of Baranghati near Hajo and Amir Hussain of Chhaygoan, all in Kamrup district, tested COVID-19 positive. They were under quarantine in the Sarusajai quarantine centre as they had returned from Haryana, Rajasthan and Kolkata.
