KOKRAJHAR: As per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) and in view of public safety against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Deputy Commissioner and chairman, District Disaster Management Authority, Chirang, on Thursday issued an order for strict adherence to COVID-19 appropriate behaviors by shopkeepers.

According to the order, only fully vaccinated shopkeepers in Chirang district would be allowed to open their shops during the permissible time. Shop owners would have to ensure minimum 6 feet distance among customers and would not allow more than 5 persons inside the shop. The shop owners should compulsorily keep sanitizers and hand wash in their shops. Responsibility of maintenance of social distancing and wearing of face mask, both by the shopkeepers and customers, would be on the shop owners and failure to do so would be viewed very seriously by the district administration and might entail summary closure of the defaulting shops as per relevant sections of the law. This order has come into force with immediate effect.
