Short Film "A Little Sunshine" Makes Assam Proud, Wins Best Indian Short Film At Uruvatti International Film Festival

Guwahati: The Assamese film industry has once again brought laurels to the state. A short film from Assam titled A Little Sunshine has won the Best Indian Short Film Award in the 2nd edition of the Uruvatti International Film Festival. 

The short film has been directed by Sumon Dowerah and is produced by Sun Productions.

Additionally, the film has also been selected by the 11th Pune Short Film festival.

The main casts of the short film are Dr Amar Jyoti Choudhury, Arpana Dutta Chowdhury and Debashish Borthakur.

The producer of the short film is Dr Hitesh Baruah while the executive producer is Dr Nabanita Baruah.

This is not the first time that Assam has shone in film festivals.

Earlier in August, Adil Hussain had won the Best Actor Male Award at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival. He had won the award for his role in the film 'Raahgir'.

Assamese actor Benjamin Daimary had also been nominated for the 12th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2021. Daimary is also Assam's first openly gay actor. Previously, he had won the Jury's special award for his role in Jonaki Porua in 2021 along with the Best Actor Award at the Asian Queer Film Festival last year in 2020
