DIBRUGARH: In a proud moment for Assam, Director Saurav Roy’s short film, ‘The Old Man’s Ode’ will be screened at the 29th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival.

Roy, who is based in Mumbai, was born and brought up in Dibrugarh. This is his second short film in Assamese with an entirely local cast and crew. The film features Ranajyoti Baruah, an acclaimed theatre artiste, and Achintya Sarma, and was shot on the bank of the Brahmputra in Dibrugarh.

The director’s previous short film, ‘You Always/ You Never’, was also received with much acclaim and screened at international Film festivals such as Lulea International Film Festival, Sweden and India’s sole Oscar-qualifying festival at Bengaluru.

In Kolkata, the film will be screened at the hallowed halls of Nandan on December 7 and at Sisir Mancha on December 12. Roy expresses his deep gratitude for this exceptional recognition and looks forward to sharing his film with audiences at the festival.
