Short story collection Muk Namariba Ma released in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR, Jan 16: "The phenomenal concept, what we say as 'paradise' is not in anywhere else. It can be found in our society only. Our good works what we do knowingly or unknowingly, be it small or big, build the paradise where we live," stated noted litterateur Bharat Rajkhowa in Lakhimpur on Saturday. He made this statement while delivering a lecture after releasing a short story collection titled Muk Namariba Ma, composed by story teller Dipali Chetia Mazumdar.

On the occasion of the release of the book, which has been published by Jiten Baruah on behalf of Mangalboodh Jagaran Prakashan Parishad, North Lakhimpur, a special programme was organized at Uttar Lakhimpur Xahitya Xabha Bhavan under the auspices of Mangalboodh Jagaran Kendra. The agenda of the programme began with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by former president of Deuri Xahitya Xabha, Shashidhar Deury, which was followed by a chorus song presented by vocal artistes Dubori Mazumdar, Boanashree Chutia and Bharnavi Kashyap. Social activist and poet Uday Sankar Hazarika inaugurated the programme was chaired by Mangalmoy Patrika editor Sanjib Upadhyay. Director of Mangalboodh Jagaran Kendra, Jiten Baruah explained the objective of the programme.

In his lecture, Bharat Rajkhowa stated that a person should be a good reader at first to be a good writer. "Though short stories are written for entertainment, they must give a message. Literary creation immortalizes human beings. They live through literature for ages. We must have a zeal to create such kind of prose, poetry, novel and drama," asserted the litterateur while appreciating Dipali Chetia Mazumdar for giving good messages to the society through her short stories incorporated in the newly-published short story collection. In connection, he analyzed the title story of the book, Muk Namariba Ma, which is written on female foeticide as the theme of the story.

In the programme, Mihir Chetia also delivered speech on the book. On the other hand, writer Dipali Chetia Mazumdar explained what inspired her to write short stories.

In connection with the programme, a literary event titled 'Xahitya Alap' was also held. Writer-journalist Ranjit Kakati, poets Tirtha Das, Mintu Sarmah, Dipti Bhuyan took part in the event and recited their self-composed poetry. Artiste Krishna Bordoloi presented a flute recital while vocal artiste Geetanjali Bhuyan presented patriotic songs in the programme which was hosted by Pankaj Sabhapandit.
