SILCHAR: The body of Ashok Roy Choudhury, a Silchar-based banker working in Karnataka, was recovered from a locked toilet inside a train. Roy Choudhury was missing since Saturday.

On Sunday noon, his body was recovered from the toilet of the Yeshvantpur-Shivamoga (Shimoga) Intercity Express train. The cleaning staff during routine duty found that a toilet in the train scheduled to depart Shimoga at 3.30 pm, was locked from inside. Subsequently, the railway staff broke open the toilet door and Roy Choudhury’s body was found there. The investing officer of Shimoga police had confirmed the identity of the deceased as Roy Choudhury. Preliminary investigation indicated a massive cardiac arrest as the cause of death.

Ashok Roy Choudhury in his mid-30s was a resident of Silchar National Highway road. He was working in Union Bank and was posted in Shimoga. Last year he married Anushka Chakraborty, a research scholar in Assam University, Silchar. The couple used to stay in Shimoga. Recently, Anushka visited Silchar for her academic assignment. On Saturday, she left Silchar for Bengaluru. Ashok, on the other hand, caught the Inter-city Express to receive his wife. According to a family source, Anushka texted her husband just before her flight took off from Kolkata and he reportedly responded. Ashok’s mother, who lives in Silchar, also had a conversation with her son over phone on Saturday at 3 pm while he was on the train. Since then there was complete silence from Ashok’s end though his mobile phone kept ringing.

Anushka’s father Professor Apurba Chakraborty, a retired teacher of Cachar College, and Ashok’s elder brother have already reached Shimoga.
