SILCHAR: The Silchar Municipal Corporation celebrated ‘NAMASTE’ Day to honour the ‘Safai Mitros,’ the sanitation workers who keep the city clean with their daily toil. The Shrishti Waste Management team partnered in executing the day’s events with precision and care. From felicitating the Safai Mitros to holding health camps ensuring their well-being, to the distribution of PPE kits and a handwashing campaign, each gesture spoke volumes of the city’s respect for those who work, often unseen, to keep it running.
The newly-appointed Municipal Commissioner Srishti Singh expressed admiration for the city’s sanitation champions. “Our Safai Mitros are the quiet guardians of Silchar’s health and dignity. Today, and every day, they deserve our highest respect and gratitude. This ‘NAMASTE’ Day is not just an event but a reminder that our appreciation for their contribution should extend far beyond a single day,” she said.
