Silchar police arrested four drug peddlers

SILCHAR: Silchar police nabbed four drug peddlers from different places of the town on Tuesday. Acting on a tip off, police raided a place in Silchar Railway Station area and Madhurbond locality. Subrata Chowdhury, Sipon Laskar, Joynal Hossaid and Kamal Hussain were arrested. 212 plastic containers containing altogether 104 grams of brown sugar were recovered from them. Joynal and Kamal were picked from Madhurbond where they were openly selling narcotic substances in a busy road. On the basis of their confession police later raided another place in Madhurbond area and picked up Subrata Chowdhury, a resident of Ashram Road. In a separate raid at railway station area police caught Sipon red handed while he was selling drugs. Sources said, Joynal used to procure drugs from other neighbouring states and through small time peddlers he virtually runs a racket.
