

Concluding ceremony to commence from October 6

LAKHIMPUR: College of Teacher Education, Dhakuakhana, has completed 25 years this year. During the past years, the college has managed to establish its unique existence in the field of teacher training in the State. In the meantime, the college celebrated its silver jubilee festival by organizing various programmes and functions. The concluding ceremony of the year-long celebration of the same will be held with three-day long programmes from October 6 to October 8. The college authority and the celebration committee, comprising of 25 sub-committees, are making preparations to host the event successfully.
On October 6, the agenda of the event will kick off with a massive plantation drive to be inaugurated by ‘Aranya Manab’ Jadav Payeng. Then Principal Dr. Pradip Chandra Borah will hoist the college flag while celebration committee president Purnananda Gogoi will hoist the silver jubilee flag. Smriti tarpan programme will be conducted by Hemprabha Dutta and Bholanath Gogoi, the president of the Society for College of Teacher Education. Then Xatradhikar of Basudev Than Naruwa Xatra, Bhupendra Dev Goswami will inaugurate the vehicle stand constructed with the fund donated by the former trainees of the college.
The stage will be inaugurated by Dhakuakhana College Associate Professor Sewok Chandra Chutia. Then a symposium on ‘National Education Policy-2020: Challenges and Prospects’ will be held wherein academician Dr. Mukunda Rajbanshi will be present as chief resource person, while Dibrugarh University Assistant Professor Dr. Pranjal Burhagohain, Dhakuakhana College Associate Professor Dr. Pankaj Borah will be present as resource persons. In the evening, ceremonial lamp will be lit by veteran social worker Purna Lahon and retired Principal of Dhemaji College, Banajit Bhatta will inaugurate the cultural function.
The second day’s agenda of the event on October 7 will start with registration of the former trainees of the college at 9:30 am. It will be followed by a symposium on ‘Role of teachers, parents and society in moulding the students into good citizens of future’. The symposium will be inaugurated by Principal Dr. Pradip Chandra Borah, while Vice Chancellor of Majuli Cultural University Dr. Nirode Baruah will be present as chief speaker. Dibrugarh University Professor Dr. Gopal Chandra Hazarika, North Lakhimpur College Vice-Principal Banikanta Konwar will grace the occasion as resource persons. Then Gauhati University Professor Upen Rabha Hakasam will ceremonially release Rupali Baibhav, the souvenir of the event. From 3.00 pm, an interactive session of the alumni of the college will be held under the chairmanship of Alumni Association president Dulu Saikia. In the evening, ceremonial lamp will be lit by Cheniram Baruah, the retired Principal of Dhakuakhana HS School while the cultural function will be inaugurated by vocal artiste-subject teacher Chaitanya Dutta.
On the concluding day, on October 8, a colourful cultural procession will be taken out at 10:30 am. It will be flagged off by Pankaj Borthakur, Controller of Examination, Assam Higher Secondary Education Council. The open session, under the chairmanship of Purnananda Gogoi, will commence from 1.00 pm and it will be inaugurated by Kartik Kalita, ADC of Dhakuakhana sub-district. Dr. Rupam Baruah, Inspector of Colleges, Dibrugarh University, will grace the occasion as chief guest while AHSEC chairman Rukma Gohain Baruah will be present as appointed speaker. Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, former central minister Ranee Narah, minister Naba Kumar Doley, Dhakuakhana SDPO Sudhanya Suklabaidya, and other dignitaries will take part in the programme guests of honour.
In the evening, the trainees of the college will stage a bhaona titled ‘Parasuramor Guru Dakshina, Sahashrarjun Badh’, which will be inaugurated by retired Professor Amiya Kumar Hundique.
