LAKHIMPUR: Baikunthi Xatradhikar Singhapurush Shri Shri Achyut Chandra Dev Goswami Memorial Award, instituted by historic Basudev Than Naruwa Xatra of Lakhimpur was conferred on Tuesday in a ceremonial programme organized on Tuesday in a befitting manner.
The prestigious award is conferred by the Basudev Than Naruwa Xatra, the noted Baishnav Peeth of the Northeast Region, located in Dhakuakhana subdivision of Lakhimpur district, on the students of the district who secure highest marks in Assamese subject in the HSLC exam every year. This year the award was received by six students of the district, Sarmistha Bhagawati of Bhaskarjyoti HS School, Chandan Chetia and Koushik Chutia of Sankardev Sishu/Bidya Niketan, Bahpati-Azad, Phula Munda of Rupahi High School, Jyotika Saikia of Sankardev High School and Mukunda Saikia of Bimala Prashad Chaliha High School. Each of them were honoured with a gold medal, safura, gamocha, prize money and a citation as mementos of the award.
