JAGIROAD: The Sita Jakhala Dugdha Utpadak Samabai Samity (SJDUSS) Ltd., Amlighat near here has started an indefinite protest rally against the anti local policy of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) in front of their office from Friday.

The Chairman of the SJDUSS Ltd Ranjib Sharma, while speaking to the media, said that the Assam government, through WAMUL, signed an agreement with Gujarat based NDDB and deprived the local farmers of getting the proper value of the milk supplied to WAMUL. The protestors said that they would continue their protest until and unless the government cancelled the agreement. The Chairman also asserted that the SJDUSS would never be with the NDDB in any condition and called upon the Assam government to look into problems faced by the society rather than inviting the NDDB to hatch a conspiracy to deprive the local cattle farmers. He, while addressing the protest rally, also said that the rally for sustainability of the local cattle farmers was attended by representatives from Jorhat, Nalbari, Golaghat, Nagaon, Barpeta, Morigaon and Baska districts. He further alleged that the NDDB has been setting up some Milk Producing Institute(MPI) in the area for collection of milk which might jeopardise the very objective of the cooperative movement of the State.
