GAURISAGAR: In pursuance of the order issued by the Chief Secretary, Government of Assam and to take all precautionary measures to stop COVID-19 disease spreading in the community and to reduce mass movement of vehicles in the District, the Deputy Commissioner and chairperson of District Disaster Management Authority, Sivasagar, Bishnu Kamal Borah vide an order issued on Wednesday, has imposed some restrictions on plying of vehicles in the district.

The order allows only plying of all types of vehicles, both commercial and private, including two-wheelers having registration number ending with odd digit (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) on odd dates of the month (1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th, 15th, 17th, 19th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th and 31st day of the month) and allows only plying of all types of vehicles, both commercial and private including two-wheelers having registration number ending with even digit (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) on even dates of the month (2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th , 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 18th, 20th, 22nd, 24th, 26th, 28th and 30th day of the month) in entire Sivasagar district between 5:00 am to 2:00 pm. This order, however, will not be applicable to medical services, police, fire services, emergency response for restoring telecom and electricity, officials related to District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and other law enforcing agencies; buses plying under ASTC and vehicles under Municipal Boards of Sivasagar, Amguri, Demow and Nazira; full body goods carrier trucks; the vehicles engaged in various government scheme works which have been specifically permitted by the district administration; the vehicles carrying green tea leaves, chemicals/ fertilizers used in farming and cash carrying vehicles to ATMs; the vehicles of other districts passing through Sivasagar district; the vehicles of on-duty employees, specifically engaged in emergency and essential services duty for COVID-19; the vehicles of officers/ employees of judiciary and advocates engaged for urgent court cases only, on duty Bank and Post Office employees and on-duty Treasury employees; and the vehicles of print and electronic media personnel with proper identity.

The order has come into force with immediate effect from 5 am of May 13 and will remain in force until further orders.
