SIVASAGAR: Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner Dr MS Laksmi Priya and Sivasagar Superintendent of Police Amitabh Sinha said that the situation is totally under control in the district and Civil and Police administration were duty-bound to maintain peace and amity in the district.

Addressing a meeting at Sukafa Conference Hall in the DC’s Office recently, the DC thanked the people, the media and representatives from various organizations for giving full cooperation to maintain peace and law and order in the district during the ongoing protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

Dr Lakshmi Priya said even though the entire district was witnessing protests against the CAA, there were no such incidents which could create fear psychosis in the minds of people. “We are thankful to the people as they showed faith in the administration’s efforts of maintaining law and order,” she said. She also called upon the people not to panic in this hour of crisis.

While attending the meeting, Sivasagar Superintendent of Police Amitabh Sinha, also called for maximum restraint and called upon the agitating people to stay away from picketing in oil installations of ONGC as it involves considerable hazards.
