OUR CORRESPONDENT

SIVASAGAR: The Sivasagar District Administration has directed all the ineligible families availing the facilities of ration cards and getting free rice under the National Food Safety Act (NFSA)-2013, to return their ration cards. Issuing a notice on Tuesday, the Sivsagar District Administration directed all government employees, pensioners, families of non-governmental jobs with annual income of more than 1 lakh, established businessmen or contractors, four wheeler owners and those who do not need ration, kerosene etc, to voluntarily handover ration cards to the concerned branches of food, civil supply and consumer affairs in Sivsagar or Nazira. There have been allegations that many families in different areas of Sivsagar district have been getting rice, kerosene etc. by keeping ration card under the "National Food Safety Act-2013". Though the district administration has many times been requesting to submit the ration cards, some families have not responded to the appeal yet.
