SIVASAGAR: A capacity building programme for CSCs (Common Service Centres) of Sivasagar election district was organized on Wednesday at the Sukafa conference hall of the DC’s office, Sivasagar with Dr Lakshmanan S, Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar in the chair.

Pankaj Borah, Election Officer, Sivasagar who joined the post in Sivasagar on September 9, elaborately discussed the role and responsibilities of the CSCs in Electors Verification Programme (EVP), which is an ambitious programme of the Election Commission of India, and was launched in September 1, 2019.

Through the Electoral Verification Programme, an elector by himself can verify the correctness of his electoral details through a number of channels like NVSP Portal, ‘Voter-Helpline’ mobile app, Common Service Centres and voter facilitation centres. A power-point presentation was also shown to elaborate the technical aspects of EVP to the CSCs. The Election Officer also urged upon all CSCs to actively participate in EVP and contribute to the preparation of a ‘zero error’ electoral roll in the district.

Addressing the officials, the Deputy Commissioner requested all CSCs to abide by the law of the land with respect to data-safety and cyber-crime issues. Among others, Sivasagar Superintendent of Police Amitava Sinha, District Managers of CSC-SPV e-Governance, Sivasagar, Mofijuddin Ahmed and Rimpy Bora, and about 40 CSC VLEs from across the Sivasagar election district were also present in the meeting.
