Six, including a girl, of Udalguri get selected as Agniveers

MANGALDAI: The recruitment process for the Armed Forces has seen a significant transformation since the “Agnipath Scheme” was introduced by the Indian government in June of last year. Under this plan, youth between the ages of seventeen and a half and 21 will be enlisted as Agniveers, or soldiers.

Indian Army while operating in Udalguri district of Assam has taken up the initiative to conduct awareness rallies regarding the Agnipath Scheme. The youth and the students of all the schools colleges in the Udalguri district were approached and guidance was provided to the youth for the recruitment in Indian Army under the Agnipath Scheme.

A total of 10 candidates volunteered for the pre-recruitment training by Indian Army in Udalguri in which all candidates were imparted with physical training along with organizing classes aiming towards their preparation for written tests as well as conducting medical screening as a run up for the upcoming recruitment. Significantly six out of the ten aspirants namely Pranayan Lama of Sonajuli, Eftarul Ansari of Khairajangal, Sagar Lama of Kalikhola, Hari Achariya of Suklai and the lone girl aspirant Risha Rabha of Hahini Gaon not only got selected in the recruitment rallies but also became the first six recruits under the Agnipath Scheme from Udalguri district.

This praiseworthy initiative of the Indian Army not only was lauded by the people of the district, but also appreciated and applauded by all the schools and colleges especially the youth as this pre-recruitment training will go a long way in empowering the youth from the remote areas of Assam to fight the menace of unemployment by successfully joining the Indian Army.
