Skill Development Training on Computer Basics & Detergent Making programme for Jorhat jail inmates

JORHAT: With the objective to boost up self-employment and self-reliance among the jail inmates of Assam for the development of economy of the country as a whole, Skill Development Training on Computer Basics & Detergent Making has been arranged at Central Jail, Jorhat, Assam from May 1 to May 27. The said programme is supported by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and implemented by Tool Room & Training Centre, Guwahati, which focusses on providing skill training to the jail inmates to nurture their skills on Digital Literacy and will make them capable of manufacturing their own detergent based products and supply the same to various outlets.

Arindam Saha, Project Manager (I/C), Tool Room & Training Centre (TRTC), Amingaon & Naveen Dhingra, CGM, NABARD, Assam RO addressed the participants & requested them to explore the full benefit of the programme. Pranab Kr. Bora, ACS, DC (I/C), Jorhat, Arun K Brahma, ACS, ADC, Jorhat also took part in the programme & elaborated the importance of Skill Development & Digital Literacy in the present scenario of employability & entrepreneurship. Around 80 participants took part in the programme & actively participated in the deliberation. Later on, officials of NABARD also assured the inmates that they will provide full support to them for setting up their own business venture to earn their livelihood after completion of their stipulated period in jail, stated a press release.
