She further appealed to the people to vote for BJP and entrust the saffron party to bring forth development in the state.

Speaking about AIIMS, in a veiled attack on Dr Manmohan Singh, who was a Rajya Sabha MP from Assam, the Union Textile Minister asserted that, despite tall leaders of the grand old party from Assam went on to become the Prime Minister of the country, but the state did not witness development. "AIIMS came to Assam only during Narendra Modi's tenure," she added.

Listing our several schemes and programmes initiated by the Sarbananda Sonowal led government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Irani said that the BJP has worked for the poor and the people in tea gardens across the state.

She further said that funds will continue to come from the Centre, but it will reach the people through the state exchequer if there is a government of the BJP in the state.

Referring to the 2016 assembly elections, when Congress won from the Sivasagar Constituency, Irani said, "there was a mistake last time, it should not happen this time."

In Sivasagar Irani was campaigning for BJP candidate Surabhi Rajkonwar, who is pitted against jailed anti-CAA activist Akhil Gogoi and Congress leader Subhramitra Gogoi.
