Smuggled drugs seized by Mizo police

SILCHAR: Champai district of Mizoram which shares border with Manipur at Churachandpur on the north as well as with Myanmar on the south and east, has become a safe haven for international smuggling rackets. On Monday late night, Mizo police during a routine checking, seized a small car and recovered 30 soap cases filled with 422 grams of heroin. The market value of the contraband substances would be Rs. 2.11 crores, a source in the Mizo police claimed. Police had arrested the driver of the Khaompuithanga and his helper Lalrinmuana.

Few days back Cachar police had nabbed the kingpin of Burmese supari syndicate Musa Ahmed Siddiqui when he was about to fly from Silchar airport. Musa, originally from Nilambajar area of Karimganj, allegedly used to run the smuggling racket from Aizwal.
