Social Worker Kabindra Chandra Saikia Passes Away in Tezpur

TEZPUR: Kabindra Chandra Saikia, noted social worker of Tezpur town, a resident of Polofield area here and senior advisor of Kamrupia Sanatan Dharmamandali, Tezpur passed away on Tuesday at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital (TMCH) due to COVID related infection. He was 91. He leaves behind his two sons, one daughter and a host of relatives.

In 1960, he joined Tezpur Central Jail as assistant jailer. He also served as Industry Officer in Tezpur prison. During his service period, he underwent training in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He was also associated with Patanjali in Haridwar Uttarakhand. He was closely associated with Penchonar Santha, Kamrupia Sanatan Dharma Mandali, Purbanchal Kristi Sangha, Rupjyoti Sangha, Dehargushi Durga Puja Samittee, Nalbari and several socio-cultural organizations.

In his condolence message, secretary of Bhoomi, Dip Kumar Kalita said that Kabindra Chandra Saikia's contributions to the growth of Assamese society in greater Tezpur would be remembered for generations to come.
