Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) observes Protest Day

LAKHIMPUR: The Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) observed June 30 as Protest Day by strongly condemning the continuing widespread communal killings and arson in Manipur resulting in complete disruption of people’s life in the State since May 3. The central committee of the political party appealed to the people of India to observe the Protest Day across the nation against the violence in Manipur.

Responding to the appeal, the Lakhimpur District Committee of the SUCI (C) initiated protest programme in North Lakhimpur on Friday. In this connection, the members of the political party demonstrated at Saboti near Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital and rent the air by shouting various slogans regarding the issue. The protesters demanded to restore peace in Manipur. They also demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to break his silence over the Manipur issue. During the demonstration, SUCI (C) State committee member Prajjal Deb delivered a lecture.

Through a press release, SUCI (C) State committee secretary Chandralekha Dass appealed to the people to come forward to initiate a united movement against the capitalism, which is allegedly the root cause of the burning problems of Manipur people.
