Sonitpur Police arrest fake physician of Gutlung area

TEZPUR: Majaharul Sultan, a fake physician of Gutlung area under Tezpur Police station in Sonitpur district, was arrested by Tezpur police on Sunday night.

Talking to The Sentinel, DSP, Headquarter, Sonitpur, Dr Rashmi Rekha Sharma said that the accused, who was popular among the people as 'Munna Bhai', was illegally running a clinic named Dr MA Sultan Clinic in Gutlung area under Mahabhairab Police outpost since many years, treating ignorant and illiterate people. In the police investigation, it came to light that he treated all kinds of ailments and diseases, from cancer to gynaecological problems.

However, how Sultan became a physician by studying till only Class XII in the Arts stream remains a mystery. Sources said that besides many other illegal activities, he was also involved in child trading, gender detection and foetus killing.

One Rahila Khatun recently lodged a complaint at Mahabhairab Police outpost against her own husband regarding the issue of running child trading, wherein she mentioned about the alleged nexus of MA Sultan Clinic. After the primary investigation conducted on the basis of the complaint, police booked him and conducted a search operation in the clinic and managed to collect valuable information. Regarding the racket, police have registered a case against the accused with case no.1506/2020 under section IPC-493/420/109/370/34 and sent him to jail on Monday.
