Guwahati: I think we can all agree that Sonu Sood, the Bollywood baddie turned real-life hero, has been winning hearts across the country for his genuine concern towards fellow citizens.

What started out as an exercise to return stranded migrants to their native places amid the lockdown has turned into something greater, deeper, and more significant.

Ever since Sood has emerged as a good samariatan on the scene, people have been tagging him in videos where they try to bring his notice to the sufferings of fellow Indian citizens.

This time Sood, who has already set the bar very very high, seems to have outdone himself once again. Promising to build a house for a poor, Sood has once again touched the hearts of his countrymen.

Sonal Singh, a twitter user, brought Sood's attention to the plight of a widow who lives in a ramshackle hut in the middle of nowhere-land in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri.

"This family hails from Jalpaiguri in Assam. The woman lost her husband. She never has enough to feed the single child that she has. The plight of the family worsened further during the monsoons. You are her hast hope. If possible, save this family. Only you can save them", Singh wrote in Hindi.

In the video that the Twitterati uploaded on social media, it can be clearly seen that the hut that the widow lives in is in a severely dilapidated condition. As the camera moves around the residence, one gets to witness the pitiable piles of junk that this unnamed widow calls her belongings.

Taking note of the tweet, the people's champion Sood wrote, "On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, let us build a house for this sister from Assam."

Although Jalpaiguri is in West Bengal and not Assam, it is the thought that matters.

Sood's promise to help this woman build a house of her dreams for herself and her loved one speaks volumes about the Bollywood star's commitment towards helping the poor and needy.

This won't be the first time that Sood has offered a helping hand to the needy, and it certainly won't be the last. If only the country could have more Sonu Soods!
