Sophisticated arms and ammunition recovered in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The Assam Police, CRPF and SSB are carrying out joint operations against illegal arms in different areas in the district and many arms and ammunitions have so far been recovered or unearthed.

Talking to media persons, Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Rakesh Roushan said that on the basis of secret information regarding concealed arms and ammunitions in the deep forest area of Balujhora under Saraibil BOP of Gossaigaon Police Station, an extensive search operation was carried out from 7 pm on Monday under the leadership of Mukut Rabha, Additional SP( HQ) and assisted by Punamjit Nath, Deputy SP (HQ), Saurabh Gupta, SDPO of Gossaigaon, SI Latuk Das, OC, Kachugaon PS, Sub-Inspector Mithun Taye, IC, Saraibil BOP and staff in the jungle area of Balujhora near Ranganala between ride no. 4 and 5.

He said that during search, the police team recovered some arms and ammunitions kept concealed underground which included two AK-56 rifles, two magazines of AK series, 24 AK ammunition and one 9mm pistol with magazine.
