KOKRAJHAR: Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, as part of the whirlwind tour programme of ongoing Swasthya Sewa Utsav (SSU), visited Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital (KMC&H) and Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. Daimary was accompanied by MLA of Kokrajhar East constituency-Lawrence Islary, EM of BTC Reo Reoa Narzihary and MCLA Rajib Brahma.
At the Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital, the Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary interacted with the faculty members, staff and students of the college. He also inspected the facilities of various departments including the emergency ward, OPD, IPD etc. The Speaker also visited the patients’ wards and interacted with the patients.
Later, the Speaker visited the 200-bedded Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital in the heart of Kokrajhar town and inspected all the department. The three day Swasthya Sewa Utsav is being held in 49 health institutions in Kokrajhar district. The objectives of the Swasthya Sewa Utsav is to reduce the gaps in health facility for further improvement as per assessment.
Talking to media persons, Daimary said the present State government had been giving priority to health sector, facilitating various free treatment schemes to the people besides improving infrastructures. He hailed the State government that has scripted history by setting up many new medical colleges and hospitals in Assam that never happened earlier. He also said BTC region has got two Medical Colleges and Hospitals one each in Kokrajhar and Tamulpur of which Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital has become operational from this academic session. He also said the government had been trying to provide best health care services to the people of state.
