GUWAHATI: Assam state administration is continuously trying to enhance the system in an more efficient way. GP Singh, the most recent DGP of Assam has recently made a decision for the general public. 

The newly appointed DGP conducted a meeting with varied police personnels on 2nd of February, Thursday. The meeting included SPs of different ranks and several decisions has been made in the meeting. 

From 13th of February, 2023, all Superintendent departments along with the Assam police headquarters, will take up the responsibility to assign an officer on every working day from 11:30am to 1:30am, who will chat with the public to ensure Grievance Redressal. 

This particular officer will stay in contact with the public and hear out issues faced by them. Another decision that was adopted during the meeting is, all the police Superintendents of the district will grant a compulsory off day to all police personnels working under their supervision, per week. 

Only on emergency grounds the leave will be withdrawn. However, this particular rule is not applicable for the ICs, OCs of police stations. GP Singh also advised that, all the concerned departments including Assam police headquarters, district and battalion will make sure that all pending pension cases in the state should be managed and cleared within two months of time period. 

Furthermore, separate toilets will now be constructed for women in battalions and organisations of Assam Police. DGP GP Singh suggested all the officials to maintain a cordial relationship with the general public.

Along with the people, all officers were asked to behave in a decent manner to their fellow colleagues across varied ranks. He appealed all the police personnels to boost up their immunity, exercise and take good care of their health to deliver efficient services.

GP Singh was appointed as the new DGP of Assam on 1st of February, 2023.
