Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls to begin in Sonitpur district from August 4

TEZPUR: Along with the rest of the country, pre-revision works ahead of the Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls will begin in Sonitpur district from August 4. The integrated draft electoral roll is scheduled to be published on November 9 and the period for filing claims and objections will be between November 9 and December 8. The final electoral rolls will be published on January 5, 2023. This was informed by Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Deba Kumar Mishra at a press meet held in Tezpur recently.

The DEO also informed that the ECI after bringing in certain legal amendments has now approved of four qualifying dates, ie., January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1 as eligibility for youngsters to register in electoral rolls and that anyone attaining 17 years of age can now apply in advance for enrolment and they need not wait to attain 18 years on January 1 of a year, as was the case previously. Interested citizens can now fill up forms through the Voter Helpline App and www.nsvp.in or through their local Booth Level Officer. ADC and i/c Election Officer Raj Boruah, and other senior officials of the district administration were present at the press meet.
