Special Task Force Formed by Cachar Police to Tackle Mob Violence

Silchar: A team of Special Task Force (STF) involving all the police stations of the Cachar district in Southern Assam’s Barak Valley has been constructed to counter rising incidents of mob violence.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, Cachar Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Roushan said, “The task force will have officer-in-charge from all the different police stations of Cachar district. The team would operate under the leadership of an Additional Superintendent of Police.”

Roushan also mentioned that the STF team would work to find out areas prone to mob lynching or mob violence.

Apart from this, the Cachar SP also highlighted the fact of the previous records or incidents of organised mob violence or lynching in the region. He also assured about making clear access to such records in order to counter such issues in the near future.

Roushan also mentioned monitoring social media sites, which often assists certain section of people in escalating rumour during incidents of mob violence.
