Spirituality and education are two sides of same coin: AHSEC chairman

LAKHIMPUR: "Spirituality and education are the two sides of the same coin. Education being enriched without spiritual ideology has no value. The main objective of education is to create a man of trait and attributes in the real sense. The objective can only be realized when the education system can make a student capable to possess the quality for self-realization."
This statement was made by Rukma Gohain Baruah, the chairman of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) in Lakhimpur on Saturday. He said so while delivering his lecture on a topic 'Spirituality and Education' at Panigaon Om Prakash Dinodia (OPD) College.
Notably, Panigaon OPD College, one of the leading institutes of higher learning of Lakhimpur district, has undertaken an initiative to organize a series of lecture in the college under the banner of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The maiden event of the series of lecture on the topic 'Spirituality and Education' was held on Saturday.
In connection with his lecture, the AHSEC chairman further said, "Holding affirm in spiritual ideology brings in purity of thought, purity of speech and purity of action in one's life. Spirituality is what gives one a sense of value or worth in one's life. It encourages people to have better relationships with themselves, others, and the absolute soul Spirituality can help one deal with stress by giving a sense of peace, purpose, and forgiveness. Students should usher in these qualities to shape their own life to build a pure society."
The lecture event was held under the management of IQAC Coordinator, Professor Babul Bahoi, who also explained the objective of the programme. It was chaired by Principal Dr. Suresh Dutta. Dr. Dutta also delivered the welcome address. He explained the importance and role of prayer, practice of yoga as some ways for spiritual enhancement. He called upon the students to go forward by planting spiritual ideology in heart.
