LAKHIMPUR: "The sprint campaign of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) saturation drive, titled as Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikta Humaari (KBPH), will be conducted in Lakhimpur district too along with the rest of the nation from April 24 to May 1. The campaign has been initiated by the Department of Agriculture & Farmer's Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, in association with the State Governments Union Territories, banks etc."

This was declared by Manoj Kumar Baruah, the Deputy Commissioner-in charge of Lakhimpur, at a press conference on Friday. The press conference was convened at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office in the presence of Lead District Manager (LDM) Nandeswar Barman, DDM of NABARD Amlanjyoti Tamuli and District Information and Public Relation Officer Mandira Chayengiya.

"The aims of the campaign are to provide KCC to all eligible PM KISAN beneficiaries who do not have KCC, to facilitate all farmers in getting benefits of ongoing schemes especially KCC, to cover all eligible farmers under various social security schemes, viz— PMSBY, PMJJBY, APY of the PMJDY programme and to mobilize potential farmers through Special Gram Sabha and to enroll maximum number of farmers under KCC for crop, Animal Husbandry and Fishery related schemes," the Deputy Commissioner-in charge added.

Notably, the Government of India had launched this saturation drive of KCC to cover all the PM KISAN beneficiaries from February 6, 2020. Further, this drive has been made a part of Atmanirbhar Bharat to cover more farmers under KCC. The nine-day long sprint campaign will be conducted to generate awareness in order to provide KCC to left over farmers under Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikta Hamari within the ongoing saturation drive. As a part of the campaign, the Department of Panchayati Raj, in association with the line departments like Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fishery and the Bank officials, will organize a special Gram Sabha in all the Gram Panchayats on April 24 across the district. Such Gram Sabhas will be addressed by Prime Minister as a whole in connection with the launching of the campaign.

During the campaign, the village heads, Bank Sakhis attached with the banks under NRLM, Business Correspondents of the banks or branches and other field functionaries of the banks will motivate, assist farmers in preparation of KCC applications. In order to fulfill the aim of the campaign, all PM KISAN beneficiaries will have to fill a one-page simplified form, by giving their details of land record, crop details and a declaration that they have not availed any benefit of KCC from any other branch. This one-page simplified form is only for PM KISAN beneficiaries and is available on website of all Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs), website of the Department of Agriculture & Farmer's Welfare (www.agricoop.gov. in) as well as on the PM KISAN portal, (www.pmkisan .gov.in). The one-page KCC application format can also be collected from Common Service Centres (CSC), Bank Branches.

Through the press conference, the Deputy Commissioner-in charge appealed to the PM KISAN beneficiaries, eligible farmers of the district to make the campaign successful by extending their due cooperation during the designated days.
