Stage set to celebrate Rongali Bihu with traditional fervour in Udalguri

TANGLA: Brisk preparations are underway to celebrate Rongali Bihu in a befitting manner at Tangla town of Udalguri district. The three-day Rongali Bihu celebration starting on the first day of the Assamese month of Bohag is being organized under the aegis of Sadou Tangla Rongali Bihu Xanmilani. A strong celebration committee for the 70th edition of the festival with Pramod Hazarika as president, Syed Nazimul Haque as working president and Khargeswar Bora (Jinna) as general secretary, has swung to action.

As per the programme schedule, flag hoisting will be done on the first day followed by tribute to the martyrs and drawing and sports competitions among children. The second day will witness a cultural rally, mukoli bihu dance competition in various age groups. On the third and final day, the souvenir Keteki will also be released along with distribution of prizes. A cultural night will be held in the evening.
