GOALPARA: A central Task force team of the Assam Agriculture department on Saturday visited the Goalpara district for checking indiscriminate uses of pesticides and chemicals and interacted with the ADOs of the district. They also had a discussion with the AAIs and AEAs at the DO's chamber in the District Agriculture Office, Goalpara.
The team visited the pestiside retail dealers in several places, including Dhupdhara under Bikali ADO Circle, Tiplai under Rangjuli ADO Circle, Borpathar under Rangjuli ADO Circle, Simlitola Bazar under Matia ADO Circle, Goalpara Town under Agia ADO Circle. Rajib Kumar Bhuyan, Sr. ADO, Directorate of Agriculture, Khanapara, Assam, Kamal Das, PO Directorate of Agriculture,Khanapara, Assam, Hitesh Bezbaruah, SDAO Dudhnoi, Bandana Patgiri, Sr. ADO Goalpara and Bipul Nath, ADO Rangjuli were present during the visit to various retail dealers of fertilizers.
The team along with the members of the district agriculture office, Goalpara held an awareness meeting with dealers and retailers of Matia ADO Circle at Simlitola bazaar and the discussions included, indiscriminate uses of pesticides and proper documentation for selling pesticides at the local markets. After this, the team visited several areas in the district discussed the usage of pesticides in their fields with the farmers.
Both the central and district Task force team have jointly checked fertilizer dealers shop for indiscriminate use of pesticides and chemicals and have informed them to sell and use pesticides as per Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIBRC) norms. Finally, there was a short discussion at the DAO's chamber at the district agriculture office, Goalpara where Nayan Kumar Bora, DAO Goalpara and Rajib Bhuyan, member of the central task team discussed in detail as to how to create awareness amongst the farmers with the help of officers, staff and the members of the district agriculture office, Goalpara.
