PATHSALA: All together four nomination papers were filed in Bajali district, one in Patacharkuchi constituency and three in Bhawanipur constituency, on Wednesday.

In Patacharkuchi, Ranjeet Kumar Dass, State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president filed his nomination paper and in Bhawanipur, Dr. Ranjit Deka, Rector of Anundoram Barooah Academy, filed nomination as Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) candidate, Phanidhar Talukdar as AIUDF candidate and Mahamad Rahman Ali as independent candidate.

The Patacharkuchi constituency people witnessed six helicopters on Wednesday in which various political leaders came and took part in an election meeting held at Choukhuty HS playground. Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma arrived in the meeting and said that Ranjit Kumar Das was an efficient leader who would be able to bring all-round development of the constituency, including developing the newly-formed district into a full-fledged one. He strongly criticized the Congress for forging an alliance with Badruddin Ajmal and said that it was not a good sign for the people of the State. He appealed to the people to take the election seriously and to keep in mind the protection of the identity of the indigenous people. In his speech, he mentioned various schemes undertaken by the BJP-led government during the last five years.

Sarma promised to increase the amount of aid under Arunodoi scheme from Rs.830 to Rs. 3,000 in the coming days, providing jobs to another one lakh unemployed youth before March 2022 and working for all-round development of the State. He appealed to the people to make Ranjit Kumar Das victorious in the poll battle with a huge margin.

In the meeting, Ranjit Kumar Das said that his main aim was to develop the constituency in such a way that it features among the five most developed constituencies of the State.

United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) chief Pramod Boro in his speech said that if in the ensuing election the BJP did not come to power, Assam would be heading towards a dark future. Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and State minister Phani Bhushan Choudhury also addressed the meeting.

Earlier, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal arrived at Pathsala on Wednesday morning separately and took part in a road show. He also appealed to people to vote for Ranjit Kumar Das.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ranjit Deka took out a huge procession from the Bhawanipur constituency and filed his nomination as AGP candidate. He was accompanied with his supporters and other alliance party leaders. He submitted his nomination to Returning Officer Pranjan Pratim Konwar.

All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) Phani Talukdar also filed his nomination for the same constituency. Independent candidate Mahamamad Rahman Ali also filed nomination. Till Wednesday, in Bhawanipur all together three candidates filed papers and in Patacharkuchi constituency under Bajali district, two candidates filed nomination, including Pabindra Deka from Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP).
