BISWANATH CHARIALI: State Tobacco Control Cell Assam organized a workshop on tobacco control in collaboration with The Union (International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease) on Tuesday at the conference hall of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Biswanath.
The Superintendent of Police of Biswanath, Rajen Singh was present as the chief guest while the resource persons were Dr Arundhati Deka, deputy director-cum-State Nodal Officer, NTCP, Assam and Dr Sunanda Tamuly, DNO, Sonitpur. They explained about cessation of tobacco as well as COTPA Act, 2003 and about the burden of tobacco. Other participants were multi-stakeholders of various departments like health, educational institutions, NGO and police.
