Stolen excavator recovered by Karbi Anglong Police

BOKAJAN: A team of Karbi Anglong police successfully recovered an excavator two years after it was reported stolen from the Khatkhati area along the inter-State Assam-Nagaland border in East Karbi Anglong on Thursday.

As per reports, the excavator machine was sent on rent from Jharkhand for earth-filling works in Nagaland. However, a gang stole it from the operator on the pretext of test driving the machine after it reached Lahorijan area of Assam-Nagaland border in 2019. The operator later approached the Khatkhati police and formally filed a complaint about the theft. Since then, the Khatkhati police have been investigating the matter. Recently, the stolen machine was located in a construction site at Zunheboto district in Nagaland.

Meanwhile, the police team, with the help of their Nagaland counterparts, reached the location and successfully retrieved the stolen machine in an abandoned state. No arrest was made in connection. Khatkhati OC Mwblik Brahma lauded the assistance provided by Nagaland police in recovering the stolen machine.
