Storm causes extensive damage to property & crops in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The storm that lashed several parts of Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district on Monday evening caused massive damage to property and crops. Talking to this correspondent, Musukha Islary of Jolaishree village said that strong wind with heavy rains lashed the northern parts of Gossaigaon subdivision, including Gossaigaon town, and caused massive damage to property. He said that villages like Dumbajhar, Laokriguri, Pokhalagi, Nondipur, Oxyguri, Dolgaon and Rajendrapur under Saraibil BTC constituency were the worst hit areas where tin sheets of many houses were blown away, trees were uprooted, crops were damaged and electric wires snapped. Islary said that power lines were yet to be restored and there had been reports of people sustaining minor injuries during the storm.

Meanwhile, Kokrajhar district saw heavy rains on Tuesday too. Though there is no threat of possible flood from the rivers, people of the district fear heavy storm lashing the area.
