Stress Laid on Developing Work Culture Among Youths

LAKHIMPUR: The memorial lecture and award distribution ceremony in the memory of Xatradhikar of Basudev Than Naruwa Xatra, ‘Singhapurush’ Achyut Chandra Deva Goswami started with a two-day long programme from Sunday.

In the programme, Tushif Tamanna Rahman, who secured highest mark in Assamese subject in Lakhimpur district in the HSLC exam last year, was given away the Shri Shri Achyut Chandra Deva Goswami Memorial Award. The programme began with the lighting of earthen lamps at the memorial altar of the Xatradhikar by the present Xatradhikar, Deka Xatradhikar and other devotees of the xatra. It was followed by a plantation drive inaugurated by xatra xub-committee president Molaram Medak.

The open session and the award distribution ceremony commenced with the Deka Xatradhikar of the xatra, Bhupendra Deva Goswami in the chair. It was inaugurated by ADC of Lakhimpur and Dhakuakhana SDO Arindam Baruah. Xatra Development Committee secretary Durlabh Chandra Deva Goswami explained the objectives of the programme. Professor of the Chilapathar College, Dhemaji, Jogananda Gogoi graced the occasion as the appointed speaker.

“It is bitter truth that most of the talented students of the State have become idle with regard to performing domestic work. Unless work culture is generated among them, they will only seek government jobs and our State will be full of unemployed youths soon. In this regard, the parents of the students, along with the teachers, must guide them to for their all-round development,” the appointed speaker remarked in his speech.

Block Officer of Bordoloni Education Block, Gunin Dutta, principal of Dhakuakhana Model HS School, Kalpana Gogoi, and headmaster of Dhakuakhana Central Model School, Kamakhya Saikia delivered encouraging speeches as guests of honour.

In the programme, Tushif Tamanna Rahman was conferred the Shri Shri Achyut Chandra Deva Goswami Memorial Award for securing the highest marks in the Assamese subject in Lakhimpur in the HSLC exam last year. Notably, Tushif bagged 98 in the subject in the HSLC exam and secured the fifth rank in the State with an aggregate percentage of 98.17 per cent while appearing in the exam from North Lakhimpur St. Mary’s School. He is the son of science teacher Tamijur Rahman and Bandana Konwar, residents of North Lakhimpur town. He was honoured with one tola gold, a citation, cash prize, bundle of books and gamosa. In addition, a total of 13 students who secured first division in the last HSLC exam from the Basudev Than Naruwa Xatra Sankardeva HS School centre and a galaxy of meritorious students studying in various schools under Mornoi Gaon Panchayat were also feted with citation, bundle of books and gamosa.
