Dibrugarh: In order to prepare a detailed plan for holding the 32nd National Road Safety Week, the District Transport Office here organized a meeting with the car and two-wheeler dealers of the district at the DTO office premises with R.T.A member I. Ahmed in the chair. About 30 automobile, two and three-wheeler dealers of the district attended the meeting.

MVI Dhananjay Saikia, while addressing the gathering, put emphasis on road safety awareness programme which he felt could effectively minimize the fatal road mishaps. He further called upon the dealers of automobiles or three and two wheelers to sensitize the buyers about the rules of road safety before selling their vehicles. Saikia said, "This will help the buyers to follow the rules of road safety and other rules of Motor Vehicles Act while driving." He also suggested the dealers to install some hoardings depicting the do's and don'ts of road safety in suitable places for their business outlets.

While participating in the discussion, representatives of the automobile and two wheelers dealers in the district offered various valuable suggestions related to observance of month-long road safety programmes. Speakers while offering their suggestions, also assured to help the authority to make the Road Safety Month a grand success.

District Transport Officer (DTO) Sanjeeb Hazarika in his speech called upon the automobile and two-wheelers dealers to help and support the department logistically so that steps taken by the DTO office in active cooperation of traffic police would help them to sensitize the errant drivers of cars and two-wheelers in the district. "We want your logistic support in implementing all road safety measures in the district." Police Traffic Inspector D. Dhadora and senior journalist Ratan Hazarika also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, Mrinmoy Das spoke briefly about the purpose of holding such road safety meetings while A. Ali offered the vote of thanks.
