Stress laid on taking steps to uplift status of journalists

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur District Journalist Association (LDJA) has taken up the crucial decision to enhance the journalistic quality of the district journalists keeping the pace of the dynamism of time in view.

In this regard, LDJA has chalked out special agenda in order to organize various workshops and symposia in the upcoming days in connection with the related field. Moreover, LDJA, like the previous years, will be extending its contribution and using its potential in order to resolve the burning issues of the district and humanitarian problems. Further, the LDJA has decided to pressurize the government in order to implement the recommendations of the Majithia Wage Board in order to secure the financial rights of working journalists.

LDJA took these decisions in an executive meeting which was held at the conference hall of North Lakhimpur Press Club on Tuesday. The meeting commenced with LDJA president Majin Sonowal in the chair while secretary Tutumoni Phukan explained the objective of the meeting. In the same meeting, the newly-constituted executive body of LDJA, with president Tutumoni Phukan, working president Kumud Baruah and secretary Manoj Borpatra Gohain, took over charge from the old committee.

The audit report of LDJA from the period of July 28, 2019 to December 31, 2019 was submitted and approved in the meeting. The same meeting held detailed discussion on the organizational strength and the problems of the journalists along with many other issues. The agenda of activities of the LDJA for the upcoming session was also approved in the meeting.
