NUMALIGARH: Erratic power supply at Rangajan area in Golaghat district has caused drastic resentment among the people here. It's been more than a month, since frequent power failure has caused severe blow to the already broken economy due to the lockdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. More than a dozen tea factories, several other industries like block-brick etc. of the area are also facing hurdle in operation due to frequent and long hours of power cuts. While expressing resentment, locals of the greater Rangajan and Dhuliagaon area said that these frequent and long hours of power failures have caused tremendous lost to all the small scale industries and other small businesses as well. The frequent power outages have also caused huge loss to the student fraternity in particular and common people as well. As most of the students are not able to attend their ongoing online classes due to the most frequent power outages in the area, resentment among their parents are also taking up to an unbearable stage. It is also alleged that the local APDCL office of Golaghat does not bother the problems of its consumers. Upon contacted over the issue, a senior APDCL official of the Golaghat sub-division-II, who don't want to be named told The Sentinel that there is an immense shortage of manpower in the office. For which it is stiff to detect a fault or error in the whole power supply lines. The official also stated that they are trying their best to regularize the power supply to the area and satisfy their customers but the higher ups in the APDCL also need to deploy adequate manpower in the office for a smooth and regular power supply to the area.

The concerned sections of the area urged upon the higher authority of APDCL to look into the matter before it turns into worse. A local of the area alleged that the power outage lasts more than 9 – 16 hours a day. It was also alleged that the concerned Lineman and FME also doesn't cooperate with the consumers and people can't reach them over phone, in the hours of needs.

At the time of filing of this news report, concerned citizen groups of the said area are preparing to send a memorandum to the higher authority of APDCL demanding appropriate measures to fix this issue of frequent and long hours of power outages in the area.
