GORESWAR: In protest against the exclusion of names of genuine Indian citizens from the final draft of NRC and many being labeled as D-voters, the Baksa District Bengali Youth Students’ Federation staged a three-hour sit-in at the Goreswar PWD Inspection Bungalow (IB) on Tuesday.

A rally was also taken out from IB to the circle office demanding a correct NRC with all 15 documents and to protest alleged harassment of Indian citizens.

The protesters shouted slogans against the government and the NRC authority in front of the officials of the Goreswar Circle Office who were engaged in the NRC update work. A memorandum was submitted to the President of India with seven demands through the Circle Officer of Goreswar. Circle Officer Alakananda Medhi arrived at the venue and received the memorandum. Thousands of Indian citizens of Goreswar under Rangiya LAC in Baksa district were left out in the final draft of NRC.
